Support in Reading for the victims of fractured families.

Christmas is known to be a tough time for families where relationships are strained. A wave of acrimonious separations follows in the New Year. The parent with most control over their children (usually mum) often restricts, or even stops their relationship with the other parent and his wider family. It's a great loss to those children: their lost parents, their lost grandparents, their lost self esteem and generally a loss to society. In rare cases these events lead to tragedies.

Reading is the first town in this country to have a center to help families in difficulties. The opening of a Help and Information Center / Charitable Shop in Tilehurst, Reading. The Center run by volunteers offers help to the parents, both fathers and mothers, seeking to maintain or restore their relationship with their children after divorce or separation.

This is in support of Families Need Fathers, a National charity that helps kids to enjoy the love of both of their parents following family breakdown.

Count A. Tyszkiewicz, FNF local group chairman, says:

We have seen many distraught parents who have been torn away from their kids for the 'crime' of having lost the love of their partner. These kids do not understand why they no longer see dad, often they think that it must be their fault. We aim to help keep child and parents & grandparents in good & plentiful contact.

He continued:

Unwarranted separation of kids and parents is a common crime in the UK; it emotionally scars kids and parents for life. We support those who want to do the best for their kids. Kids are for life, not pawns in a separation battle.

This is the first "high street" presence that FNF has ever had, anywhere. Judging by the hundreds of inquiries already received from passers-by and charitable help already received from big name companies, we know that the shop will increase awareness of our cause.

The sympathy and the good will which is extended to us by the local community in the form of donations and shop stock is highly appreciated and we thank all those who helped us.

The Center also sports a little office where we hope to run our campaigns, activities and projects.

The official opening of the Center will be on the 12th January at 3:30pm. The ribbon will be cut by Peter Beard, Mayor of Reading, accompanied by Families Need Fathers Chair Charles Kenyon.
